Dine-in, Take-away and Delivery: Running All Three from One System

A modern restaurant takes orders at the table, at the counter and by phone. Here is how to keep all three organised.

Most restaurants today sell in three ways: customers sitting at tables, customers taking food away and customers waiting for a delivery. Each has a different flow, and a system that handles only one of them leaves the other two to paper slips and shouting across the kitchen.

Dine-in: tables and timing

For dine-in, the key is knowing the state of every table: free, occupied, waiting for food or waiting for the bill. Table booking helps you plan busy hours and avoid double-booking. Orders should go from the waiter to the kitchen directly and attach to the right table, so the final bill is correct.

Take-away: tokens keep the counter calm

Take-away customers do not have a table to be found at. A token system solves this: each order gets a number, the kitchen works through them and the customer is called when their token is ready. It stops arguments about whose food it is and keeps the counter orderly even when it is crowded.

Delivery: riders and tracking

Delivery adds new questions. Which rider has which order? Which orders are out and which are waiting? Has the cash come back? A delivery system connected to your billing lets you assign orders to riders and see their status, so nothing is lost between the kitchen and the doorstep.

One billing, three flows

The strength of a single system is that all three kinds of orders end in the same place: one billing record and one daily report. You can see how much came from tables, how much from take-away and how much from delivery, and decide where to focus.

Features to look for

  1. Single-click billing that keeps the cashier fast at all times.
  2. Table management and booking for dine-in.
  3. A token system for take-away.
  4. Rider assignment and delivery status for orders on the road.
  5. Kitchen orders with clear notes for each dish.
  6. One set of reports across all three channels.

From our experience

A restaurant in Faisalabad needed fast billing that works in a single click. We developed it together with dine-in table booking, a token system for take-away and a delivery system that works with riders, so every order, from the table to the doorstep, runs through one system.
